If you are interested in applying to adopt a pet from The Shiloh Foundation, you are first required to complete a pet adoption application.  Applications are not available for download from the website.  To receive an application, you must contact The Shiloh Foundation via e-mail:

                       theshilohfoundation@yahoo.com

After completing the application you may return it via e-mail to the above e-mail address.

The turn-around time depends upon how soon your references can be contacted.

If your application is accepted, the next step will be a home visit by a representative from The Shiloh Foundation.  All household members must be present for the home visit. If you have other pets in your home, a meet/greet will also be arranged.  The first meeting of your pets with the new adoptee will NOT take place on your pet's home turf, but will take place on neutral ground agreed upon by all parties.  This could be a neighborhood park, a pet supply store, a coffee shop, etc.

Should both the home visit and meet/greet be successful, you will be asked to complete the adoption contract and submit the donation to complete the adoption of the new pet.  You will be supplied with all available immunization and veterinary records pertaining to your new pet.  You will also receive a resume of your pet, including likes, dislikes and important things for you to know, including your pet's diet and any other special needs.

You should have on hand:

an appropriate collar and leash for your pet

a crate which is the correct size for your pet

a pet bed or blanket for your pet

chew toys/food & water bowls

good quality pet food

Your pet's vaccinations will be current upon adoption.  It will be your responsibility to ensure that your pet receives all necessary future vaccinations.  For puppies, this could be rather soon after adoption.  Example:  puppy is 8 weeks old, has had first two immunizations, will need another at 10 weeks and again at 12 weeks.  All pets placed for adoption will have already been spayed or neutered.

The Shiloh Foundation can only hold a pet for adoption if all of the above steps have been completed, including the paid donation.
